Known throughout the world as one of the best landraces in Afghanistan, Mazar-i-Sharif is a distinctive looking giant. It is often described as having red stems but in fact its colors range from dark green to red and black.
Mazar-i-Sharif is located in the heart of the hash producing Balkh province, in Northern Afghanistan. Despite centuries of war and being ravaged by terrorists, dictators, communists and capitalists, this incredible plant has survived and thrived.
Mazar-i-Sharif means “the noble shrine”. It holds uniquely Afghani characteristics with small wide leaves and grows either short, at 2m, or tall, at 4m. It is very strong smelling with a terpene profile that hints of sweet melon and spice.
